Aside from running my photography business I also founded and run Hiking Dogs of Instagram. I created the account to build the hiking community, specifically those who hike with their dogs around the world. I have had this account for almost 4 years now and it’s crazy to see how much it has grown. With each year I wanted to make more progress with building the hiking dog community and getting more involved with the followers. I never imagined it getting as big as it has, even to the point of now selling stickers, calendars and maybe even a book! This year I really wanted to push for more interactions in the community so I created hiking dog meet ups.
These meet ups happen all over the world in more than 20 different countries. Each lead by a leader (Dogs on Instagram in their communities.) and report back to me how it went, send photos and videos, and build relationships with their fellow dog and hiking lovers. I lead the Southern California meet ups and my dog Rylee comes along with me. We just had a meet up this past weekend and it couldn’t have been more fun! We made tons of new friends and got to spend the day outside hiking. I have moments where I regret creating the account because like all fame, judgments and unnecessary reactions from others comes with it, but it’s meet ups like these that help build friendships and unite people from all over the world that make it worth it.
